Central West Cricket Board - Regional Tournament

2005 Central West Regional Tournament
(Memorial-day weekend)

Author: Jarrar Jaffari

This is a great honor for the Colorado Cricket League to host rest of the Central West teams in the annual prestigious Regional Championship over the memorial-day weekend.

Teams from the following regions have confirmed their participation:

  • Houston (HCL),
  • Dallas (NTCA),
  • Austin (CTCA).

Games are scheduled to be played at Memorial Park Colorado Springs and Lower Garden Acres Longmont.

CCL has lost two of their best grounds for the early part of this season, which is adding to complications and confusions. We are confident that we will be able to get Lower Garden Acres ground at Longmont ready by the time memorial day is upon us.

As the CWCB tournament committee is formed very late and is getting active just now, CCL decided to make some crucial decisions and had the meeting of its Executives and have taken the following decisions:

  • CCL will make every effort to hold the CWCB tournament and make it a successful event.
  • CCL is committed to see CWCB succeed and will not spare any efforts to achieve this goal.
  • Mr. Raymond Mascharenhas will lead the efforts in ColoradoSprings and Rajesh Joshi in Longmont. These gentlemen will put a team of volunteers to do scoring, umpiring, game day event managers.

Cricket Balls:

Colorado Cricket League (CCL) takes pride in the fact that years ago we had decided that we will not play with sub-standard balls and have been using Kookaburra Tuf Pitch Balls for many years now. These balls cost us a lot of money, but we love to play with these cricket balls. CCL has already purchased these balls for the regional Championship and event managers will provide these balls to teams.

Neutral Umpires

It was promised by CWCB that neutral umpires will be provided by CW, thus CCL had not put any effort in doing so. However, we were just told that CWCB can not provide neutral umpires. So CCL will find CCL certified umpires to stand in for these fixtures.

Distances:

In CCL, the two grounds where we will play are some distance apart. Colorado Springs is about 75-80 miles south of Denver International Airport and it takes about an hour of driving to reach there. CCL is making sure that we have someone escort HCL team traveling to Colorado Springs. It most probably will be Vamshi Kytham.

Longmont is about 35 miles North of Denver, and it takes as long to go there as long it takes to drive 35 miles.
